Projects in development studies are prioritised for grants from the fund "Chr. Michelsen's gift to the nation"

The fund "Chr. Michelsen's gift to the nation" is announcing grants for research projects in social sciences and humanities. Projects in development studies are given priority.

The interest of the fund, founded by donations from the Norwegian people to the Christian Michelsen in 1907, will be applied to the advancement of scientific or business productive purposes by a grant of minimum NOK 25.000,- and a maximum of NOK 100.000,- for outstanding young Norwegian scientists to enable them to sacrifice themselves for specific tasks at home or abroad. Grants may be awarded for independent research projects.

Applications in the social sciences and humanities are received. Projects in development studies will be given priority. Applications related to graduate or master's theses will not be considered.

Candidates should preferably not be younger than 20 years and not more than 35 years. Grants are awarded for a year at a time, but one may be paid the same scholarship for up to five consecutive years. Contributions may be paid in the form of loans if they are directed at work that can be expected to give the recipient greater economic benefits.
